Threads of Change: Virtual Event on Instagram Live

In January 2024, we were excited to roll out our inaugural virtual event Threads of Change - a monthly Instagram live event with Jackalo founder Marianna Sachse. Find the next one on our Instagram page @hellojackalo (you’ll have to use the Instagram app to participate!).

January’s Threads of Change session featured Marianna and Jackalo CMO Sarah to discuss de-cluttering, mending, and how to handle the load of kids’ clothing management.

How to Declutter Clothes

• Break it down to bite-sized tasks:
• do things in parts, doing one section at a time (e.g. socks drawer, pajamas)
• do a quarterly refresh on socks and underwear
• now is your chance to get ahead of the season 
• Have your kids do the work of decluttering, planning, and budgeting for their clothing 
• We accept all Jackalo clothes back, and will clean and repair items for resale or recycling

Tips to Reuse and Recycle Clothes

• Those big donation boxes? The clothes often end up in other countries’ landfills.
• Organize your own clothing swap within your school or community: even kids in the same grade can be very different sizes
• Build a system of donation for clothes beyond repair:
• A clothing recycling bag/box on each floor to collect items beyond repair (and don’t keep circulating in your drawers)
