Where do you live?

Asheville, North Carolina

Tell us about your kid(s) - ages, interests, and strengths. 

We have an 11 year old girl, Lena and a 3.5 year old boy, Alby Atlas. Both kids were born in New Zealand and although Lena grew up there until age 8.5, we moved to the US when Alby was 8 months and he’s grown up out west living on the road in our van, in Colorado and now North Carolina. 

Lena has always been unschooled and now attends a forest homeschool co-op a few days a week. She has a birdhouse/craft business where she sells her woodworking, pottery and crafts at local markets. She saved up for a baby bearded dragon, named Tiger, who is her pride and joy! She loves the Wings of Fire book series, is a big lover of dragons and loves hiking barefoot. She is the best big sister and is so motherly. She is able to captivate little one’s attention so well. 

Alby is my super chill little guy. He loves vehicles, climbing and just learned to ride a pedal bike! His spirit animal is a cat, despite only ever meeting two. He is sweet and wild and the best little companion to my days. We will unschool him too 💛

What's your approach to parenting these days?

Our approach to parenting is respectful, adventurous, and full of loving attachment.

What's your dream family trip?

To take my family to the beautiful Philippines and show them where I grew up 💛

What causes do you care about most these days. Any organizations you want to shout out? 

In New Zealand we supported the Blind/Low Vision Organisation, due to both Lena and I having vision issues.

How did you discover Jackalo?

We discovered Jackalo when I was looking for an organic, sustainable brand of clothing that was hard wearing because my outdoorsy, tree climbing kids can put some serious holes in their clothes!

What's your favorite product from Jackalo?

Our favourite Jackalo products are the Ash Pants, Jax Pants and the Beetle Mania clothing, or as my kids lovingly call them - buggy print!!

Tell us one fun fact that may surprise people about you.

Alby was a very nearly unassisted homebirth vbac and his big sister Lena cut the cord 😊

Tell us a little bit about your business/the kind of work you do (include links)

I’m a photographer who over the years specialised in homebirth photography and families, and these days I have more of a focus on properties and high end vacation rental photography.  I have a big love for landscape and Astro photography.

Our 11 year old Lena makes birdhouses, pottery and crafts for local markets here in Asheville, and she ships her creations around the country as well!
